Play sand products sold in Australia contaminated with asbestos release hazardous airborne fibres when used, according to a new study by the Consumer Watchdog and the University of Auckland. The research found 90 per cent of contaminated samples released airborne fibres that could be inhaled by children. At least 22 products were recalled between November last year and May due to asbestos contamination concerns.
