Cocaine, meth, and $100k cash seized in major Chinchilla drug bust

Queensland police have charged 38 people following an eight-month drug trafficking investigation in south-west Queensland. Operation Xray Discourse targeted a syndicate allegedly supplying drugs across Chinchilla and surrounding areas. Investigators allege significant quantities of drugs were trafficked along a 170-kilometre stretch between Miles and Jondaryan. Officers seized cocaine, methylamphetamine, cannabis, and more than $100,000 in cash. Eighteen search warrants were executed at properties in Chinchilla and Miles over Friday and Saturday. Drugs were found hidden in a hollowed-out log, a washing machine, and other locations across rural properties. The operation was led by the South West District Tactical Crime Squad with support from Brisbane’s Major Organised Crime Squad and Dog Squad. A total of 496 offences have been laid across the 38 accused. Seven people face the most serious charge of trafficking dangerous drugs. Five are from Chinchilla — aged 36, 34, 48, 32, and 32 — including one woman. A 35-year-old man from Harristown and a 22-year-old man from Jondaryan also face trafficking charges. All seven are due to appear at Chinchilla and Dalby magistrates courts across May and June. Detective Inspector Andrew Trenerry said CrimeStoppers tip-offs were pivotal to the operation’s success.
