Cleary announces shock retirement; budget promises under fire; police swoop | 7NEWS
Ivan Cleary, the most successful NRL coach of the decade with four consecutive premierships from 2021 to 2024, has announced he will step down from coaching the Penrith Panthers at the end of the 2027 season. The announcement raises questions about the future of his son Nathan Cleary, who can test the open market later this year and may join girlfriend Mary Fowler overseas. Assistant Peter Wallace will take over as head coach when Cleary departs, ending a remarkable career that delivered five grand finals and four straight premierships to the Panthers.
