A burst water main in Canning Vale caused a massive sinkhole to open in the middle of The Bridgeway, swallowing a Toyota Corolla. The driver, a man in his 20s, escaped uninjured, but the incident caused widespread disruption including peak hour transport delays, street closures, and ten homes losing water supply. The repair operation was complicated by a gas line located just 80 centimeters from the burst main, requiring extra crews to disable the pipe to prevent a potential explosion.
