Captain Sully Sullenberger reveals Alzheimer’s diagnosis | 7NEWS

Captain Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger, the pilot who successfully landed US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River in 2009 saving all passengers, has announced at age 75 that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He is one of 7.4 million Americans aged 65 and older living with the condition and has pledged to use his diagnosis to help others facing the same journey. After years of advocating for aviation safety, Sullenberger is now becoming a voice for the Alzheimer’s community, describing the disease as an ‘unwanted visitor at the door’ whilst emphasising the importance of courage and community support.
