Billionaire backed One Nation supposed to be ‘for the battlers’

Former Labor Adviser Bruce Hawker questions One Nations “battler” status after billionaire Gina Rinehart buys the party a headquarters.

“It does go to reinforce the very strong relationship between Australia’s richest person and One Nation, we might as well call it the Gina Rinehart One Nation party these days,” Mr Hawker told News24.

“It’s really part and parcel of where politics is going in Australia and unfortunately, it’s a bit like the United States its billionaires now calling the shots.

“It does give the opposition or parties who are opposed to One Nation, the opportunity to say well she talks about being for the battlers but really being associated with one of the richest people in Australia…does it qualify you for that mantle.”
