Ben Carroll succeeds Jacinta Allan as Victorian premier

Jacinta Allan has stood down from her role as Victorian Premier after facing an insurmountable leadership challenge from her successor, Education Minister Ben Carroll.

Allan announced she will step aside during a press conference at 9.30am on Tuesday, half an hour before the party was to vote at a caucus meeting.
