An Australian fugitive reportedly wanted over child sex abuse and drugs has been arrested – after sailing a yacht for five months to reach Thailand.
Convicted paedophile Richard Carl Skrinjar, 57, from Penrith, New South Wales, was required to report his whereabouts to Australian authorities as a registered sex offender. He was also banned from leaving the country.
But the Aussie was said to have breached strict reporting conditions by illegally sailing alone for five months to meet his Thai girlfriend in southern Thailand.
He is believed to have skippered a small yacht to navigate the perilous waters of Indochina before reaching the Gulf of Thailand.
Once on dry land, he is said to have taken a bus to his partner’s home in the northeast.
Police raided his home in Khon Kaen province in the early hours of April 28, following a tip-off from Queensland police about his location.
