The milestone has been achieved primarily through net overseas migration rather than birth rates, with approximately 1,400 people arriving daily compared to 630 births. The nation’s population has grown 50% since the 2000 Sydney Olympics, with the average age now 39 and the largest demographic group in their mid to late 30s.
