Albanese ‘welcomes progress’ on Trump’s peace plan as Hamas agrees to return hostages
Hamas has agreed to return the Israeli hostages in US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan, but still wants to negotiate other terms.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has released a statement in response, reading:
“Australia welcomes progress on President Trump’s plan to bring peace to Gaza.
“We have consistently been part of international calls for a ceasefire, the return of the hostages, and unimpeded humanitarian aid to reach those in need.
“I reiterate our call on Hamas to agree to the plan, lay down its arms and release all remaining hostages without delay.
“Together with our partners, Australia will continue to support efforts to end the war and work towards a just and sustainable two-state solution.”
