Albanese urges employers to treats Socceroos fans “kindly” ahead of national watch party
Australia’s big FIFA World Cup clash against Paraguay is expected to bring workplaces across the country to a standstill as millions tune in to support the Socceroos.
While Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hasn’t gone that far, he has encouraged employers to treat any workers watching the Socceroos “kindly” and “with thoughts of our national interest”.
“I know that Australian workers will be, of course, very passionate about the Socceroos — and I know that Australian employers will be generous in their approach to these things,” he told ABC News Breakfast.
This is the first fixture that falls squarely in the middle of the workday (12pm Friday AEST). You can watch it live and free on SBS or SBS On Demand.
