AFL legend Neil Danaher passes away at 65 | 7NEWS
AFL legend Neil Danaher has passed away at age 65 after a 13-year battle with motor neurone disease. The former Essendon captain and Melbourne coach raised $115 million for the Fight MND campaign following his 2013 diagnosis, far exceeding the typical 2-4 year lifespan after MND diagnosis. Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has offered a state funeral, likely to be held at the MCG, to honour his legacy in football and his extraordinary contribution to raising awareness and funds for motor neurone disease research.
