Albanese government accused of abandoning economic sanity with sweeping tax hikes

Former Treasury assistant secretary David Pearl criticises Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s government over tax changes, revealing the PM’s former economic adviser warned against controversial capital gains tax reforms.

“I can say it pained him to make these public criticisms today,” Mr Pearl told News24 host Sharri Markson.

“I think the parties completely deserted economic rationalism.”
