Argentina faces FIFA sanctions after players display political Falklands banner
Argentina has risked FIFA sanctions after some players celebrated their victory over England with a provocative banner referencing their sovereignty claims over the contested Falkland Islands.
FIFA’s Stadium Code of Conduct bans flags, banners, flyers, and apparel of a political, offensive or discriminatory nature inside the venue.
Despite this, the players were seen holding up a banner which read “The Falklands are Argentine”.
