The Bureau of Meteorology warns that millions of Australians across the east coast face a warmer than usual winter, with an El Niño pattern becoming increasingly likely. Large parts of the country’s southeast and southwest, including much of Victoria and parts of Western Australia, are tipped to be drier than normal. Below-average rainfall could impact regions that rely on winter rain to replenish water supplies and support agriculture.
