Putin welcomed in Beijing by Chinese leader | Trump says war will end soon | San Diego shooting

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been greeted with a grand military reception and guard of honour in Beijing before holding talks with the Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

The pair have met several times before but this summit is considered significant as the world grapples with surging energy prices and the Kremlin becomes increasingly isolated from the West over its war in Ukraine.

Many comparisons have been drawn between this visit and Donald Trump’s last week.
