A Sydney dentist, William Tam, who practised in Strathfield for 25 years, has exposed approximately 5,000 patients to potential HIV and hepatitis infection due to poor hygiene and squalid conditions in his practice. Following a complaint about poor hygiene last month, the Dental Council investigation revealed shocking cleaning habits and inadequate record-keeping, prompting Tam’s retirement. Thousands of Western Sydney residents are now being urged to undergo testing for blood-borne viruses.
