Australian gas to be reserved for local use first under new scheme
Households and businesses are being given the first option to access Australia’s own gas before giant energy companies can export it, under a new federal government scheme designed to drive down prices.
From mid-next year, gas exporters will have to reserve 20 per cent of production under new contracts for Australian use, the Albanese government has announced.
