The prime minister is poised to kill off moves for a new gas tax in next month’s budget, in part because of the global energy crisis triggered by the Middle East conflict.
It comes as Australia’s gas giants hit out at what they’ve called the “absolute lies” being beddled about the amount of tax they pay.
