Iran has fired upon and seized two cargo ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, with a third vessel suffering heavy damage. The attack occurred hours after the U.S. President announced an extension to the ceasefire, with Iran claiming the vessels violated maritime rules by not seeking permission to cross the waterway. The U.S. has responded by maintaining a naval blockade of Iranian ports that has turned around 29 vessels, while Pakistani mediators attempt to bring both sides back to negotiations.
