Native title holders on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula say the owner of a local copper mine has started development without a cultural heritage plan or Indigenous benefits agreement.
Lawyers for the group say an area of cultural significance has been completely destroyed.
Rex Minerals says it actively complied with all legal requirements under the Aboriginal Heritage Act and has “continuously engaged” with native title holders.
