NSW pharmacists to prescribe contraceptive pill | 7NEWS


New South Wales pharmacists will be authorised to prescribe and supply the contraceptive pill to women over 18 from June 1st, eliminating the need for a doctor’s appointment. Specially trained pharmacists will be able to initiate hormonal contraception after completing additional graduate certificate training, with consultation fees expected to range from $20 to $60. The initiative aims to improve access to contraception across rural, remote, metropolitan and after-hours services throughout the state.
