Parramatta light rail extension gets green light | 7NEWS
The NSW Government has approved $3 billion in funding for Stage 2A of the Parramatta Light Rail, extending the line 4.5 kilometres from Parramatta through Rydalmere, Ermington and Melrose Park to Wentworth Point with nine new stops. Major construction will begin in early 2027, creating approximately 2,000 jobs, though the full extension to Olympic Park (Stage 2B) remains without a confirmed completion date. The project includes two new river crossings and will service some of Sydney’s fastest-growing suburbs, with the existing Stage 1 currently carrying 90,000 passengers per week.
