Shark catch numbers surge in Queensland control program
Queensland’s shark control program has seen the number of sharks caught more than double in a year.
More than 3,400 sharks were caught by nets or drumlines in Queensland last year.
The biggest increase was recorded in Mackay in the state’s north.
