Study finds children are ‘financially dependent’ on parents in their adult lives

Sky News host Caleb Bond analyses a study by the University of Newcastle, which looked at how Victorian parents are helping their children financially in their retirement.

“It’s uncovered just how far this has gone, the fact that parents are now paying for things for their adult children even further into their lives,” Mr Bond said.

“The biggest thing which came out of this study, which looked at a whole group of families in Victoria … more than half of them … said that they were taking into consideration how they would support their children financially in their retirement.”
