Trump administration denounces Israeli parliament vote on West Bank annexation
US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Israel over any move to annex the occupied West Bank.
In an interview with Time Magazine, Trump said annexation of the West Bank by Israel “won’t happen”.
“It won’t happen because I gave my word to the Arab countries,” he said.
“Israel would lose all of its support from the United States if that happened.”
Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, advanced two bills paving the way for annexation this week during a visit by US vice president JD Vance.
Before leaving Israel, Vance told reporters that “if it was a political stunt, it was a very stupid political stunt, and I personally take some insult to it.”
In a joint statement, more than a dozen states including Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Türkiye, condemned the Israeli parliament’s vote.
