Hanson welcomes Joyce’s speculated defection to One Nation | ABC NEWS
Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce has announced he is considering his next steps in politics, sparking speculation he may defect from the Nationals to One Nation.
The party’s leader Pauline Hanson has expressed support for the possible move, saying Mr Joyce is more aligned with her party’s policies than his current party.
Nationals leader David Littleproud is yet to comment on the move.
The University of Sydney’s political scientist Luke Mansillo says such a scenario would pose an ‘existential threat’ to the Coalition member and elevate One Nation to a minor party status.
