Australian engineer Robert Pether leaves Iraq five years after arrest | ABC NEWS
Robert Pether, an Australian engineer who was detained in Iraq, has left Baghdad after a lengthy legal ordeal.
The 51-year-old’s wife Desree said she was “hugely relieved” and that they have faced many obstacles to securing his release.
Mr Pether has always maintained his innocence since he was arrested on fraud charges in April 2021 along with his Egyptian colleague.
