The Coalition will release its migration policy next week, tying immigration numbers to housing construction and workforce needs, with a net overseas migration target positioned between Labor and One Nation. Shadow Home Affairs Minister Jonno Duniam plans to protect backpacker labour while implementing targeted cuts to international student numbers, which currently total nearly 600,000.
