How much do you need for a comfortable retirement?
Australians now need a little bit more in their super to retire, with the rising cost of living driving up the latest retirement standard.
New figures released by the Association of Superannuation Funds show that couples aged 65 to 84 who own their own home will need around $1500 a week for a comfortable retirement, while singles will need just over $1,000.
That’s an increase of around 0.5 per cent from the previous three months.
The super industry’s peak body says a comfortable retirement includes top-level health insurance cover, some meals out, a good car, a domestic holiday a year and an overseas trip every few years.
