Peter Overton leads tonight’s bulletin. First, struggling families are staring down their fifth interest rate hike this year – after a fresh surge in inflation. The jump in prices is being driven by fuel costs, a rate rise on Melbourne Cup Day all but guaranteed. In other news, a teenage boy has been charged over a house fire in Abbotsford yesterday that left three people in hospital, including an elderly woman who was pulled to safety by police. A 17-year-old boy was arrested at a Merrylands home overnight, where he was treated for burns to his hands and legs.
