News.com.au experienced a rare insight into the workings of what happens behind a 000 call. The venues visited were:
Sydney control centre – Where they receive the triple zero calls for ambulance – Eveleigh, NSW – shown around by NSW Ambulance Chief Superintendent Sarah Black
NSWA’s State Operations Centre – where the dispatchers work (they’re the ones who decide where the ambulances go first) – and the VCCC (Virtual Clinical Care Centre, which helps people access the most appropriate care when their condition may not require an emergency response) – Sydney Olympic Park
