Mamdani and El-Sayed draw support from ‘disaffected’ young white women

Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney breaks down who is backing socialist politicians Zohran Mamdani and Abdul El-Sayed.

“Generally speaking, if you look at the Zohran Mamdani crowd, if you look at the El-Sayed crowd, it’s young, single, white women, well educated … that is what a large part of this base is,” Mr Mulvaney told News24 host James Morrow.

“It is not blue-collar workers who feel like they need socialism to help them compete against the capitalists … this is sort of a disaffected large swath of the population right now, that I guess they didn’t study in school.

“They don’t remember the history of what socialism stands for.”
