Blood test detects Alzheimer’s before symptoms appear | 7NEWS
A new blood test developed at the Centre for Alzheimer’s Research can detect Alzheimer’s disease years before symptoms appear, with 90% accuracy. The test measures tiny proteins in the blood that indicate the disease, potentially enabling earlier treatment for the half a million Australians living with dementia. Clinical trials will begin within nine months, with the test expected to become available through Medicare as a GP-referred item within a few years.
