Trump imposes 12.5 per cent tariff on Australia, citing forced labour concerns
US President Donald Trump has announced new tariffs intended to address concerns about forced labour.
Australia will be subject to a 12.5 per cent tariff under the new measures.
Defence Minister Richard Marles has commented on this, saying:
“We have one of the strongest regimes in the world; we stand with pride in terms of how our legal regime works in respected force labour,” Mr Marles told Sky News Australia.
“In relation to tariffs, we continue to make the argument to the United States that we want to see free trade.”
