Australia’s Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke has come under fire for personally welcoming a cohort of refugees from Gaza last week.
The senior Labor minister was filmed enthusiastically greeting dozens of Palestinian refugees from the Hamas-run Gaza Strip at Sydney Airport on Friday.
It’s understood the group was made up of immediate family members of Australian citizens.
The high-level welcome follows the government’s decision to recognise a Palestinian state, a move predicated on the terrorist organisation Hamas having no role in the state’s future.
