Keir Starmer usurped by own party; Iran exchanges deadly strikes; missile attack on Kyiv | 7NEWS
Andy Burnham is about to become Britain’s seventh Prime Minister in ten years, taking over from Sir Keir Starmer, whose political career ended after a difficult time in office. Starmer’s fall came after his approval ratings dropped sharply from day ten, cuts to welfare that lost support from his own party members, tax increases far higher than promised, and controversial choices, such as appointing Peter Mandelson as US Ambassador. His failure to clearly explain his plans for Britain’s future, along with an immigration crisis and ongoing pro-Palestinian protests, eventually caused his political downfall.
A US soldier was killed in northern Iraq during an operation to destroy explosives from a crashed Iranian drone, one day after two service members died in an attack on a base in Jordan amid eight days of US-Iran strikes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned Russia after a massive ballistic missile attack on Kyiv involving more than 40 missiles, killing one person and injuring 16 others in one of the biggest attacks on the capital since the war began.
