The glasses can record video, live stream content, and Meta is developing facial recognition technology called ‘Name Tag’, raising concerns about surveillance and consent.
Civil liberties lawyers and researchers warn the technology poses particular risks to women and could enable harassment and stalking, with calls for a ban if Australian laws cannot adequately regulate the devices.
