Oil prices have surged following renewed military strikes between the United States and Iran over control of the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump has announced plans to reimpose a blockade on Iranian ports and charge shipping companies a 20 per cent toll for safe passage through the strategic waterway, while Iran has declared it will not allow US interference with the strait’s management. The escalating conflict has included the first-ever use of US sea drones to strike Iranian naval assets and port facilities.
