Australian petrol prices experienced a temporary spike following Donald Trump’s blockade threat, which drove global oil prices up. The threat has since been withdrawn, leading to price stabilisation. The federal government is considering whether to extend the fuel excise discount, which has already cost $3 billion and currently provides around 16 cents per litre relief until August.
