Trump to impose toll on Strait of Hormuz
Donald Trump has made a dramatic intervention in Middle East tensions, declaring the United States will become the “guardian” of the Strait of Hormuz and charge a 20 per cent fee for ships’ safe passage through the vital waterway.
The announcement marks a complete reversal from the White House’s position just months ago, when it strongly opposed Iran’s proposal to charge tolls for passage through the strait.
