Hundreds of people gathered at Florida’s Clearwater Beach for a “teen takeover” event organised entirely through social media. The gathering quickly escalated into chaos as multiple fights broke out, leading to a shooting at Coronado Drive about 5.15pm.
As crowds fled and police detained several individuals for questioning, authorities were forced to restrict beach access and implement emergency traffic management plans. A 17-year-old youth was shot during the confrontation and rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
