The Australian Federal Government has launched a $2 billion lawsuit against manufacturing giant 3M over PFAS contamination from firefighting foam at 28 defence sites across the country. The legal action seeks to recover over $400 million already paid in compensation to affected communities and cover future remediation costs. 3M has stated it will defend itself against the claims, which represent the largest legal action ever brought by the Commonwealth.
