T rex: Why the Tyrant king has such tiny arms
The Tyrannosaurus rex developed to be a superior predator of its time with a massive body, but its arms were only a fraction of its body size.
Palaeontologists have been trying to understand why, and now they may have an answer.
Charlie Roger Scherer, the lead author of a new study by University College London and Cambridge researchers, says: “T rex is an extreme among extremes. It’s an outlier among outliers. Its entire family’s weird.”
“T rex took that idea of a massive predator with a strong head and smaller arms and kind of went into overdrive.”
