UK reports dangerous intercepts of military reconnaissance aircraft by Russia
The UK Ministry of Defence has confirmed that an RAF reconnaissance aircraft was intercepted by two Russian fighter jets last month.
The incident occurred days after the UK reported a Russian submarine operation in the Black Sea.
One SU-35 reportedly flew close enough to trigger the aircraft’s emergency systems and disengage the autopilot.
A second Russian jet, an SU-27, carried out six passes of the British aircraft, coming as close as around 6 metres from its nose.
