A major car accident on Canterbury Road at Lakemba has resulted in one death and nine injuries after a speeding sedan crossed into oncoming traffic, causing a 10-car pile-up. An SAS veteran and parachute instructor, Warrant Officer Second Class Lachlan Muddle, has died during a training exercise at Jervis Bay after colliding with another skydiver mid-air. Australian authorities are working to repatriate passengers stranded in the Netherlands after being evacuated from a virus-infected cruise ship in the Canary Islands.
