Opposition says federal budget will ‘kneecap’ first home buyers
Opposition treasury spokesperson Tim Wilson says proposed property tax changes announced in the federal budget will “kneecap young Australians” trying to buy their first home.
Wilson told SBS News that the government’s own documents showed the changes would lead to 35,000 fewer homes being built over the coming decade and higher rents.
“This is not a budget for intergenerational fairness,” he said.
