Russian strikes have killed 25 people in Ukraine just hours before a ceasefire deadline, with glide bombs attacking three eastern cities and a second wave targeting emergency responders. Russia had proposed a two-day ceasefire to commemorate Soviet victory in World War II, but Ukraine’s President rejected halting strikes for a military parade. A separate explosion at a Chinese fireworks factory has killed 26 people and injured 61 others, forcing evacuation of residents within a three-kilometre radius.
