Barnaby Joyce says regions disadvantaged by cancelled Inland Rail project | ABC NEWS
Plans for Inland Rail, Australia’s largest freight rail project, have been shelved by the federal government after the cost rose to at least $45 billion.
Barnaby Joyce, the federal member for New England, says regions along the route of the scrapped project are missing out economic growth.
The rail was a signature project for Joyce when he was deputy prime minister in the coalition government in 2015. He says the project would have connected industries and economies in regional and metro areas.
