Met Gala protesters demand better workers’ rights following Jeff Bezos’ involvement
While the world watched celebrities walk the Met Gala carpet and make headlines, several protesters took to the streets of New York to criticise billionaire and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ involvement with the fundraiser.
Bezos and his wife sponsored the event for the first time, contributing approximately AUD 14 million towards the evening. At the same time, scores of Amazon staff continue to accuse his company of exploiting workers’ rights and demand better conditions.
